honoring you...

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. Perhaps you knew my friend Cary Rundle who died on the Westchester County with you. As long as you are remembered you will always be with us.

Never Forgotten.

Every November 1st I have a drink in Duffy's memory. The last time I saw Keith was as he left the White River. He was walking out the hatch in the passage way as I was walking in from R&R. Keith said nothing, just shook his fist at me.
I went into CIC and it was then I was told he had been transferred to the Westchester County. The original orders had my name on them, but I was home seeing my son for the first time, so command decided to send Keith as the leading Radarman, not waiting for my return.
It's been many years, however I will never forget and will always regret how his transfer began and ended.
I have a second son now and that's because of Keith Duffy's sacrifice. I think of Keith and see him often as he walked through the hatch on the White River.
