THE WALL OF FACES

I met Charles at the McNeese BSU while I was a student at McNeese (1964-68). Charles encouraged me to get involved in Missions and I would often go with Charles to the Lake Charles Rescue Mission and sing. Charles' favorite song was "I'll Fly Away", and I adopted that song as my favorite song after his death in Vietnam. I ended up serving as a Summer Missionary in Oregon-Washington in the summer of 1969 (as a Graduate student at the University of Oklahoma), and my love for Missions is still as strong as ever, thanks to Charles. On this Memorial Day, I remember Charles and honor him for his service and sacrifice for our country.

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. You died on my 20th birthday. I am now 73 and have lived a long and fulfilling life. It is tragic you never had that same opportunity. May you rest in eternal peace.

It saddens me to know your daughter missed knowing you.
But you two will meet one day and will be together for all eternity.

I am sure they suffer the pain of your loss still till this day.
