Shipmate/Brother

I served on board the USS Edson with Pat. We were a small contingent of officers working together to ensure the ship carried out its mission. We were like brothers. When the news of his loss reached the ship we were devastated. How could such a good person be taken? There were others I knew who didn’t come home. They will all be remembered. I tell my children and grandchildren of their unselfish sacrifice. Pat, God bless you and God bless the memory of you.

in memory

I relieved PJ as CIC officer on the USS Edson in early 1969, as he'd had recited orders for service In Country. A gentle soft--spoken giant, an honorable shipmate, who gave his country the ultimate sacrifice.
