in memory

I relieved PJ as CIC officer on the USS Edson in early 1969, as he'd had recited orders for service In Country. A gentle soft--spoken giant, an honorable shipmate, who gave his country the ultimate sacrifice.

Patrick Donovan - A kind, compassionate, gentle man that I'll always love and Honor

Patrick,
I'll never forget that November day when I was told by my father of your passing. Although I was only 13 at the time I remember the depth of my sorrow realizing that I'll never see you again.
You gave me hope, strength and encouragement to carry one.
One day, I pray, that I'll see you again.
