Thank you John for helping out your Marine buddies. I spent many happy times in your home town, when I got out of the marines.

Petty Officer Third Class John Joseph Donahue, Served with the Headquarters and Service Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, Third Marine Amphibious Force.

Jack, We met at Great Lakes Naval Base-Chicago and attended Hospital Corps School together in 1966. Then we lucked out and spent about 9 months at Roosevelt Rds Naval Base, Puerto Rico where we honed our skills on and off base. Somehow the Marines caught up to us and invited us to Viet Nam in 1968 where we lost track of each other. It wasn't until early 1969 that I heard you had died a hero. Our Marine companions used to call us Squids, but I reminded them that squids are the terrors of the sea and prey on Marine life.

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. The remembrance from your high school friend Jean Elliott Piehler is touching. As long as you are remembered you will always be with us.

Never forgotten.
