I WILL NEVER FORGET
Melvin, there is an image burned in my mind and my heart of you. I will never forget the day you gave all, we were so young and fought so hard. I wonder why you died and I did not.

A tribute to Melvin Lester Dolby
You were among the brave that answered the call. You honored your country by your service and supreme sacrifice. Know that you are not forgotten. Your country remembers you and your sacrifice each time we stand and sing the words "...for the land of the free and the home of the brave".
God Bless You

Thank you Uncle Melvin
Although, we never met as I was born 1 year and 7 days after you were killed. You have a special place in my heart. I don't know much about the war nor do I understand it. I know that if you would have lived I would have loved to have met you. I can say, though, that I am very proud to say that you were my uncle. I'm so sorry for what you all had to endour for the rest of us. It is a real shame to know that the ones that lived were treated so badly when they came home. Well, I want to thank all of you, living and dead, for what you have given me and my family. I am very proud of you even though we never met. My brother was named after you and he is proud of that. He was born 10 days before you were killed. He loves you also.

To the brother in-law that I never got to meet.
Melvin died too young. He left a sister that loved him very much and still misses him today as she did when he volunteer for the marine corp in 67. Not long after Melvin died his families home was destroyed by fire. Not only was all of his possesions destroyed but also all of his pictures. It is as if Melvin never existed except for the memories. Those memories tend to fade and become distorted. It is cruel to have existed but to have faded away too soon. When I found this site Melvin had no remembrances, I hope that this one will last forever as his name on the wall surely will.
Melvin you never met me but I married your sister. I respect you about as much as I respect any person I have met. I think that we would have gotten along very well. I am also a Viet Nam Vet but not up to your standards. I will continue to take care of your sister and when we are all together someday she can introduce us. I am looking forward to it
