Thank You
Dear Sp4 Donald Dillard,
Thank you for your service as a Medical NCO with the 1st Cavalry. Thank you for the lives you saved. Today is Armed Forces Day. Memorial Day is coming up, and we remember all you who gave their all. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Ground Casualty
On August 12, 1969, Communist forces shelled and launched ground attacks throughout South Vietnam in the heaviest outbreak of enemy-initiated action in three months. At least sixteen Allied camps were hit. The Americal’s Camp Hawk Hill, 31 miles southeast of Da Nang, was hit by sappers which broke into the base. Thirteen Communists were slain in the resulting fierce fighting. Eight Americans were killed and 50 were wounded. The lost U.S. personnel included SP5 James A. Cabral Jr., CPL Eugene P. Clark, SP4 Donald G. Dillard, 1LT Lawrence D. Greef, SGT David O. Haake, SP4 James L. Johnson, PFC James Linder Jr., and PFC Bradley J. Simmons.
