Never Forgotten

Stanley was my Uncle, his sister Peggy is my Mother. Following basic training he stopped to visit with us while on leave. He was somewhat apprehensive about going to Vietnam but proud to serve his Country and eager to make a good account of himself.
I recall I was in school when they pulled me out of class and sent me home as word had come that he had been KIA.
Stanley was missed terribly by his parents, two remaining brothers and two sisters. The Dickerson family still keeps photo's on prominent display all these years later.
Stanley was a great guy, always good natured and willing to spend time or go hunting with his fours nephew's and his favorite hunting beagle, Toby.
I followed Stanley into the service years later, it was one of the best experiences in my life. Rest in peace Stanley.

Thank You

Dear PFC Stanley Dickerson,
Thank you for your service as a Field Artillery Basic with the 1st Cavalry.Today is the 43rd anniversary of the last battle of the war. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.
