Ground Casualty
PFC Samuel E. Dick was a helicopter mechanic serving with the 162nd Attack Helicopter Company. Being deployed in a combat zone was very stressful on American service personnel, particularly during holidays, birthdays, and other days of observance. It was thought that this contributed to PFC Dick’s loss on Christmas Eve (December 24th) 1970, when he died at Can Tho Air Base in Vinh Long Province, RVN. On that day it was reported Dick ended his life outside his barracks with a M16 rifle. He was 20 years old. [Taken from coffeltdatabase.org and information provided by Rode Agpawa (September 2019)]

Thank You
Dear PFC Samuel Dick,
Thank you for your service as a Flight Qualified Aircraft Maintenance Apprentice. Yesterday was Mother's Day, and I wish you all were here with your moms. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.
