I finally found you!

I'm your first daughter, and I've missed you very much. I'll be searching for a picture, so the rest of the world can see how handsome you were, with that glint of a rascal in your eyes. All I can remember is your face in that open glass casket, and I cry every time. Dad? I wanted you to know I burned my bra; protested the War, marched for woman's equal rights, and the civil rights of every human God has set down on this earth. I'm not bragging, but not many people knew you joined the Navy, and met my mom in Charleston S.C., and when you took us to our new home in Berlin N.H., you joined the National Guard and my sister was born! I never did get used to that cold up there Dad! After that you headed to the Army to protect your, and other American's family. You've been serving your country as soon as you grew up! You were my Hero, just like you promised. I love you and wish you were here. I'll be back with more photos for you to see your family. I gave you 1 grandson, he gave you 4 great grands, 2 boys and 2 girls, and his oldest son gave you a great great granddaughter! My son's youngest baby girl looks like you and Tootie! Dad, for now it's not goodbye anymore; it's "I'll see ya later dude", so when it's my time, be looking for me, I know Mom has found you. Look for Roy Miner, that is the father of my only son. May you enjoy the peace and Love of God.

Your Daughter

I met you briefly, once...

It was before your final deployment. My grand-aunt Pris was sweet on you. When we heard of your death it had a great impact on me, it made those little soldier icons on the evening news so real... Those casualties weren't just numbers. I also remember your mom riding in the Gold Star Mothers car at a parade, she seemed sad to me. I promise you this, you will not be forgotten. Your sacrifice, real to us on this Memorial Day. My dad told me you sacrificed your life so other soldiers could get away, laying down your life for theirs.

A nephew remembers you fondly

My husband, Arthur Descoteaux who was one of your nephews, speaks fondly of you. He remembers you from his childhoodand wishes he could somehow reconnect with your daughters. He is proud of your sacrifice even though he and his family suffered a great loss when you gave your life in service for your country.

I am a retired Army nurse. May I say that your fellow veterans say that you were a great American and a greatful nation expresses their thanks for your noble service.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear SSGT Maurice Claude Descoteaux, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter
