NATIVE AMERICAN PRAYER
It is said a man hasn't died as long as he is remembered. This prayer is a way for families, friends and fellow veterans to remember our fallen brothers and sisters. Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning hush, I am the swift, uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight, I am the stars that shine at night. I Remember David Denlinger
I was a childhood friend of David when he lived in Ridge Manor, FL, behind my grandparents. When we visited them once or twice a year, we always spent time together. (David was two years older than I) I last saw him in 1966. I knew he had become a marine, and hoped for the best, but was notified of the worst in early 1969, while I was in college. I hope his parents were able to find peace, losing their only child. As the 35th anniversary of your death approaches, know that you are still in my thoughts, and I hope you are at peace. Until we meet on the other side, rest in peace, my friend.
