Comrade, at the time, of death
Dedication and Personality Remembered
John was, a quite person, but had the respect of a Leader, in charge, of at least 12, soldiers. Out of respect, for him and his rank E5, he was always at the door when transportation was by helicopter, that was where he choose, to be. On that fateful Aug., 1966, day, he was riding in that position, when the chopper was approaching, a landing zone (rice patty) and enemy, rifle fire started. The rice patty was full, to the top berm with water, not visible to the pilot. One skid, struck the berm sending the chopper, to the ground. The chopper landed, on the side John, was riding in and pinned him, under the water. His body, could not be removed, before he drowned. John's dedication and personality, is still remembered, to this date.

Thank You

Dear Sgt John Demaline,
Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. Tomorrow is the 43rd anniversary of the Fall of Saigon. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.
