honoring you...

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. You were born ten days before me. I am 73 and have lived a long and fulfilling life. It is tragic you never had that same opportunity. May you rest in eternal peace.

Passing on the memory

Thank you to those who shared their memories. In helping my 11-year-old son with a Veteran’s Day project, I unexpectedly found this page. You’ve helped me learn—and share—just how special Chris was. From my father’s family, I knew he was loved and deeply missed but I never pressed for more. Instead, I enjoyed them laughing about happy memories. Thank you again - I’m grateful for the opportunity to tell my children about their great uncle.

THANK YOU

Dear Cpl Christopher Dellapina,
Thank you for your service as a Huey, UH-1 Helicopter Repairer with the 1st Cavalry. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Friendship from Mt. Lebanon High School

I have thought of Chris many times during the last 46 years.
We were very good friends at Mt. Lebanon H.S., class of 1967.
I remember him as tall and athletic, but never at all affected with pride
or narcissism. His outstanding characteristics, for me, were his genuine
self-effacing quality--adolescence is often confusing, and even overwhelming, but Chris had a unique way of allowing his confusion to be seen, and to, in effect, assure me that my bewilderment actually bonded us (quite unusual!); and, secondly, his great gentleness . . . I never heard him raise his voice, never heard him speak a vulgar, hurtful word toward anyone . . . always a gentle acceptance of those around him. Those qualities impressed me then, and have had me musing over his wonderful character. It was such a great thing to be Chris's friend . . .
