Veterans Day Remembrance

I was young ,3 years younger than Rodney and Rodney was also so very young. He went to war to defend his country. I was more interested in playing hockey. How selfish was I ? What a hero he was and what a blind teenager I turned out to be. I ended up succeeding as a hockey player and he died doing what he rightfully thought was his dutiful contribution to society. After so much time ,I am now so moved to pay respects to a friend who was always there and would drive all of us thru Rummels to get an ice cream . If you are from Waterville and read this tribute to a wonderful guy please let me know via email ([email protected]) Just reflecting on life and feeling in need of support.

Thank You

Dear PFC Rodney Delisle,
Thank you for your service as a Rifleman. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

To Rocky

Hey, Rocky!
I still have your letters. Mom stuck them in a desk drawer. I found them when we cleared the house after she passed- gone to join Daddy, your Mom and Dad... and you.
We were so young and just family friends.
Those letters weren't poetry, but I'll always keep them in your memory. Just 2 kids trying to be chatty. Not sharing anything deep about our respective experiences.
Remember the satin covered pillow case cover that I sent you as a gag for boot camp?
They sent it back with your other things. Your Mom gave it to mine. I'll always keep it even though it's gotten ragged over the years.
Did you know our Moms went to an Antiwar protest together at the Park? They were quite the pair.
Your loss motivated me to join the Antiwar movement in hopes of stemming the loss of so many fine young men.
Our 50th reunion is next summer.
We'll miss you, guy!!

Remembering An American Hero

Dear PFC Rodney Jerome Delisle, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

With respect, Sir

Curt Carter
