honoring you...

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. That you died on your birthday is beyond sad. That your death led to your father's suicide is unspeakably tragic. As long as you are remembered you will always be with us.

For SSGT Dale Dehnke

Dale, I have read over the posts written here on your memorial site. Reading about your Mom and Dad, classmates, and those who served with you brought sadness to me. I can understand the overwhelming sadness your parents must have had to deal with your loss. Thank you for bravely serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. God Bless.

S/Sgt. Dale Willard Dehnke

At the time of Dale's death I was married to his dad. Dale and his dad were beyond great men and forever shall be remembered. His dad, Bill Dehnke went out to the Oakwood Cemetery in Chatsworth, CA and with the last beautiful, loving letter he had received from Dale committed suicide. Bill left me a letter and instructions as to what he wanted on his gravestone. "With love and pride, I raised my boy, he was a perfect son. In battles strife he gave his life, my mission to is done." He just could not face this life without Dale. They were loving and caring and both were warriors, never to be forgotten. Dixie Dehnke Muinch, Co. Springs, Co.
