GEORGE DEHNER- REMEMBERED AT SPALDING CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL

George Dehner grew up in Northwest Iowa in the town of Alton. Eight miles east of Alton is the town of Granville, where George graduated from Spalding Catholic High School in 1967. The senior class photo came from the archives of Saint Joseph's Parish in Granville. Thanks to parish secretary Connie Christensen for bringing this photo to The Wall of Faces to honor George Dehner and his family.

I wish I could’ve known him!

My name is Bob Dehner I am the second youngest of the seven Dehner siblings. I was 10 years old when George was killed in action. I truly wish I would’ve had the chance to know him as an adult. As an older brother he was very good to me and my younger brother Rick. We would wrestle with him when he came home from working at the grocery store. He always had candy for us. It is hard to believe he has been gone over 50 years. I miss you George and look forward to meeting up with you again someday! Love your bro

My cousin

George,

Rest in peace, George. I'm going back to Viet Nam in January 2019. maybe then I will have closure and the memories will go away.

George, you are an American hero. I am so proud to have known you.

Cousin Jim
