August 10 tough for all who knew you

Dear Sgt. Anzaldua

August 10, 1969 will be etched in everyone's memory who were there on that fateful day. We were close enough to hear the firefight that took place and part of our company were choppered in to take out the dead and wounded. We came under mortar fire as soon as we landed and I saw you telling us all to get down. You gave your life protecting your men. As we went to load your body on the helicopter your Lt made sure he was the one who put you on the chopper as he would not let anyone help. You and him were very close and your death had a profound effect on him. Rest in peace you are not forgotten
