Remembering An American Hero

Dear 1LT Thomas Carmine De Palma, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, Sir

Curt Carter

a name

Tom and I were Frat Brothers and friends at Providence College.
I remember sitting with him in the Caf..(now long gone) and talking.
I was in Nam at the same time,,,me up north and Tom down south.
After my year was up, my replacement came...and he was from PC, and knew both Tom and me. He told me Tom had been killed. my wife and family was not telling me knowing it would upset me. And it did. 35.000 miles from home, and the guy who replaces me knows us both!.
Tom was a good guy..well remembered...a quiet gentlemen, a brave soldier
I'm in the Coast Guard Auxiliary now, and yesterday at a Vet's Day parade, they asked for a moment of silence...and to say a name if we wished...
the name I said was Tom De Palma.
Tom is Not forgotten, neither is his sacrifice. I went to the wall in DC years ago, , found him, and ..well...the wall really is transparent....to us....
