YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN!

Dear Specialist 4 DeLa Rosa ~ You Are Not Forgotten!
This is the 2nd year, on the anniversary of your passing, that I ran a mile with you in my thoughts and prayers. Rest in Peace, Dear Brother.

Each year since September 2015, at the annual 5th Division Army reunion, members of the Society of the Fifth Division, U.S Army remember the 514 soldiers from the 1st Brigade, 5th Division, who were Killed in Action in Vietnam. You are among the soldiers remembered. You Are Not Forgotten!

Honored Grandson of a Friend

My grandpa, known to me as Abba, would tell stories of before, during, and after Vietnam. Most of which contained his good friend and football buddy, Gumisindo ‘Gummie’ De La Rosa. After high school Grandpa Mike was studying to be a marine biologist but was forced to enter the Air Force due to imminent drafting. During his stories Abba would always cry when reminiscing on Gummie. Abba died 2019 and just seeing this brought me back so many memories of stories. If there is a heaven they are there with each other smiling and in peace. God bless them both.

Good Friend

Played football at Riviera High School, Riviera Texas
At a football game I was hurt badly with a major concussion and continued playing but I was totally out. At end of game Gummie took me to the locker room, put me in the showers, put my cloth on and put me in the bus. I spend the weekend in the hospital. My friend Gummie did this for me like a brother. I will never forget this . Rest in peace my friend.
