Dear PFC William Clarence Dayton, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

Billy and I grew up together. He was a year older than me. I was in country when I got word of him being killed. I miss you Billy. Semper Fi Troy

God Bless You William Clarence Dayton for the sacrifice you made 44 years ago. You are one of God's Angels now and your courage and bravery and the sacrifice you made will never be forgotten. Rest in peace dear soldier.

William is buried at Dorchester Memorial Park, Cambridge, MD. He served with D,1/7,1 MAR DIV.
