Remembering An American Hero

Dear PFC Charlie C Anthony, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

"I've been loving you too long to stop now!"

Years had the passed and the pain of your death had eased until last year. I do not know why the pain and memories came back, but I have to let the pain leave again on its own. I wish I had eloped with you that night when you asked me to go away with you........Even now I don't know why I refused and wish you had told me what you were going through at the time. I did not know you were being pressured into something you did not what to do. Then I should have answered your letter in time; the pain is so great because I was playing games again! But, I thought you would come back home and we would have a chance to make things right. I will regret my decision the rest of my life.

Though we never met.... I tell you that I miss you. I was cheated of having the wonderful memories that I share with your other sibblings. My mother shows me pictures of you and I try to imagine.... what it would be like to say these words to you.... I love you Uncle Charlie !!
