Missing my uncle

Ronnie was my uncle (mother’s brother) and he was KIA in Vietnam several months before I was born. I’ve always felt robbed of the opportunity to know him, especially since the family members often tell me that he an I would have gotten along famously as we have similar dispositions. I’ve always felt “close” to him, despite never having met him, I keep his memory alive. Recently, the signs marking a scenic byway which bear his name were replaced by the historical society and our family got together in remembrance. It was a great day and to see so many people from the community donate to upkeep the signs was heartwarming. Today, Memorial Day 2022, my wife and I visited Ronnie’s grave and said a prayer. We added a flag. And again, I keep his memory alive.
