Rest in Peace

Memorial Day today.
I pray and believe you are resting in peace. I’m getting older now but remember our days together in Maryland fondly. While working at the State Department, I routinely went to the memorial thinking of you and touching your name.
I know you’re forever remembered by your wife, your son, and myself.

Rest In Peace Buddy

do not stand at my grave and weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

As long as you are remembered you will never truly die....

Always Remembered

Johnny,
Time has passed so quickly. I'm now 70, but remember our days together around Peace Cross. I can't remember our other friends, but have been with you at The Wall and Arlington several times.
I know you will forever be loved by Dava and Johnny III.
following your death, I joined the Army and volunteered for Vietnam. Somehow I thought I could even the score. Not sure how I did, eventually wounded and medivaced stateside.
As my health declines and my years grow, this may be my last communication.
God bless you and keep you.
