Thank you

David, I did not know you and was just seven at the time of your sacrifice but my Daddy knew you. Seems like Taylors everybody knew everybody back in the 40’s to 60’s. He was six years older than you and did not get called to Vietnam but did do eight years Army Reserves. He always mentioned you at Memorial Day and I have remembered you as well. Each year I visit your grave at Taylors First Baptist where I am a member and place a flag on your grave and tell you thank you. I can only imagine that if you had not died that I might would know you today and talk with you possibly at church. Thank you again for serving your country and making the ultimate sacrifice.

Thank You

Dear PFC David Davenport,
Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. We are celebrating Passover and Easter. It is a time of joy, and may that be yours in heaven. It is so important for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear PFC David D Davenport Jr, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter
