do not stand at my grave and weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

Thank You

Dear PFC Robert Danneels,
Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. Today is Good Friday, and Passover begins tonight. Easter is coming up. Happy Easter. It is so important for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Together in Oakland

Robert and I were able to get a pass while in Oakland waiting to be flown to Viet Nam. We went to San Francisco and did the tourist trip.We went to the Wax Museum. Rode the famous Trolly Car. Ate at Fishermans Wharf.Traveled the Golden Gate Bridge to get a view of Alcatraz. Topped it off by getting into a nite club in Frisco even though short of being 21 (me) by 5 days. Robert was going to be a cook when he got to his unit. I was sent to the 121st Sig. Bn. I sadly learned that he was KIA about 5 months later when I ran into some guys from his unit. They told me that Robert had been put into infantry because of unit getting hit real hard just before he arrived. I didn't have a photo but here is info he wrote on card so that I could keep in touch. He was a great friend for the short period we had together in Oakland.
