honoring you as memorial day approaches....

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. The remembrance from Phil Pearson is very poignant and harkens back to an age of innocence long since passed. May you rest in eternal peace.

Honoring you

In 1988, just before my senior trip to DC, my Dad to me a story, the only time he told it to me. He gave me a piece of paper with the name Curtis Bandy written on it, told me to find it on the wall, take a picture of it and bring it home to him. He was deeply affected by it, i could tell. Ive never forgotten. Im going again, with my uncle on an honor flight.

My Horse

When I was a kid in the small town of Hugo, CO we had "fights" in the town swimming pool. We little kids were the riders. The high school boys were the horses. We sat on their shoulders and tried to knock the other riders off. Curt was my horse. Quite the innocent times. When I entered high school he was in the senior initiating class. He was very kind. He was a great guy. His family is a great family. I graduated from High School the month he died. I remember the day I heard of his death like it was yesterday. It still makes me sad. I will always remember him as My Horse.
