THANK YOU

Dear Sp4 Le Roy Damiano,
Thank you for your service as an Infantry Direct Fire Crewman. Easter is coming up. Happy Easter. It is so important for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Leroy will never be forgotten

In the summer of 1974 when I was 16 yrs old, I was hired to do landscaping and other maintenance work at the Harrison cemetery in Harrison, Idaho. While working there, I came across the grave and marker of Leroy E. Damiano, Jr. who had been killed in Vietnam on 12 February 1968 during the TET offensive. I have never forgotten his sacrifice, and recently went back and paid my respects. I believe his mom, Marjorie, was a cook at the high school I attended (Kootenai) from 1970 until I graduated in 1976. She is buried next to her son now.

LeRoy Edward Damiano

LeRoy Edward Damiano is my brother. He is missed by his family everyday. I am so happy that when I visit the Viet Nam Memorial Wall I will be able to see his picture. I am so grateful to my husband, Chief Michael E Walsh and our Son-in-Law, Evan Parker, for submitting LeRoy's Picture.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear SP4 Leroy Edward Damiano, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter
