My Friend Bob

Bob Andrews and I were childhood friends. We drove our bikes in the neighborhood and hung out together with our gang of friends. I was heartbroken when I heard he had been killed in Vietnam. My heart broke for his mother and his family. I have never forgotten him all these years

Remembered

DEAR PETTY OFFICER ANDREWS,
THANK FOR YOUR SERVICE AS A GUNNER'S MATE (GUNS). YOU WERE BORN ON WHAT WOULD BECOME THE FALL OF SAIGON. YESTERDAY WAS 9/11 AND WE HONORED THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES, IT IS A GOOD TIME TO HONOR YOU TOO. REST IN PEACE.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear GMG2 Robert Warren Andrews Jr, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, Sir

Curt Carter
