Remembering Tom and His Family

I remember Tom well. He was older than us by about three years since he had served as an enlisted man, I believe in the Navy, before coming to UCLA. In my senior year I was the brigade S-3 and I believe Tom was the ROTC Brigade Commanding Officer or Deputy Commanding Officer, He was married and had a beautiful little daughter. I have visited his name on the Vietnam Memorial on a number of occasions. I have often thought about his wife and daughter, especially his daughter. He was the first person I knew who died in Viet Nam. Even today I feel the pain of his loss. Stuart H. Fields, former First Lt., Armor.

honoring you...

A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam
And for a brief moment its glory
and beauty belong to our world
But then it flies again
And though we wish it could have stayed...
We feel lucky to have seen it.

RIP Tom

Tried to submit yesterday.
I knew Tom through ROTC at UCLA. He was President of Scabbard & Blade and I was VP. He was kind, happy, calm and pleased to be at UCLA. He looked forward to a career in the Army and was an xlnt leader. We miss him and wish the best for his family.
Jordan (CPT JAGC '69-'73).

You are remembered Tom

Tom was the President of Scabbard & Blade, our UCLA ROTC fraturnity, and I was his VP. He was a special friend at UCLA, older and married we joked about stuff walking to the parking lot and at other times. I went on to law school and became CPT JAGC '69-'73. Hope his family is fine.

Remembering a Great Man

I was in ROTC with Tom at UCLA. If I recall correctly, he had been Air Force enlisted, and decided to get a college education and be an Army Officer. He was older than most of us, and very dedicated. Quiet, calm and smart - a leader. I am sure he served the Nation and his troops with honor. He is missed.
