Ground Casualty
SGT John R. D'Agostino Jr. was an infantryman serving with D Company, 1st Battalion, 50th Infantry, 173rd Airborne Brigade. In April 1968, SGT D’Agostino was finishing up his service commitment and had been brought back from field duty to serve out his few remaining days with the Supply Sergeant at LZ Uplift in Binh Dinh Provinve, RVN, until his date to return home. On April 30th, a shotgun was accidently discharged in the billets. Tragically, D’Agostino was walking by when the errant discharge took place and was struck in the head by the blast. He died instantly. [Taken from coffeltdatabase.org and ichiban1.org]
