remembering Howard Andrews

I think Howard was the only army JAGC officer (lawyer) killed in the entire war. I was a JAGC lawyer assigned to the 18th MP Brigade with my duty inside the infamous Long Binh Jail ("LBJ") when Howie was killed. Many JAGC officers came to the LBJ to talk with clients and witnesses to prepare for courts martial. Howie was there a few hours before his death, of which I learned the next day.
I didn't know him well, but in my limited interactions with him, he was most cordial and agreeable. RIP

Do Not Stand at my Grave and Weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

DEAR CAPTAIN ANDREWS.
I TRULY HOPE SOMEONE WILL PUT YOUR PICTURE HERE. THIS WALL OF FACES NEEDS YOUR FACE. THANKS FOR BEING A JUDGE ADVOCATE/JUDGE ADVOCATE GENERAL. YOU DIED THE SAME DAY AS MY HUSBAND, BUT HE DIED THIS YEAR. YESTERDAY WAS 9/11 AND WE HONORED THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES, IT IS A GOOD TIME TO HONOR YOU TOO. REST IN PEACE.
