REMEMBRANCES
Remembering An American Hero
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter
Thank you
I wore your bracelet for years, when I was a teenager I wrote letters to your sister. The bracelet broke in half many years ago and I still have both pieces. I have never forgotten you or your sacrifice for our country
thinking of you
Although I never knew you, I wore your bracelet for a long time. Once the war was over, I thought many time of contacting your family to give them your bracelet. One day, I decided to track the family down and got a phone number. I spoke to your mom briefly and she was a lovely woman who was very proud of her son. I mailed the bracelet to her the next day. She was very surprised and very touched that I would give it to her. I'm glad I did.
Your Name Came To Mind Today
Out of nowhere, I remembered wearing your POWMIA bracelet into the early 90's. I believe it was in the late 80's, while traveling through southern Illinois, I even made an impromptu side trip and went to Ellery and sought out your lovely mother. I remember she had several pictures of you in an array with other mementos in the living room. It was an honor to meet her and be able to put a face on the bracelet.
