THE WALL OF FACES

SP6 Robert G. Cummings Jr. served with Headquarters & Headquarters Company (HHC), Army Headquarters Area Command, U.S. Army Republic of Vietnam. Cummings arrived in Vietnam in January 1966 and oversaw billeting of Army personnel. In September 1966, Cummings became suddenly ill and died at Long Binh Post. The Army reported he had been stricken with acute appendicitis and expired on September 17th. Cummings was 36 years old. A 19-year veteran of the Army, he was due to retire from the service in eleven weeks at the completion of 20 years of active duty. Cummings earned a Parachutist Badge and served in Korea for two years where he was wounded several times. He also served in Germany and at the U.S Embassies in Copenhagen, Denmark, and Japan. Dear Sp6 Robert Cummings,
Thank you for your service as an Airborne Qualified General Supply Specialist. It is so important for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.
