Remembering the day
I remember Steven as a great person with a good sense of humour when needed... he always looked out for his men. I had the privilege of being in his platoon and spent times in CP alongside Steve. Some of the images of that day in The Michelon are still heavily entrenched in memory...seeing the sticks in the tree(s) signaling booby traps and the events that unfolded from that time onward. Steve always reassured the men under his command. He went forward with courage and made the ultimate sacrifice.
A salute to Steven who served with valor,
Tom Barrett
