With Respect, Awe and Gratitude
I was in 1st grade when your son Michael ( my classmate, and 55th St. brother) brought in a picture of you, his “Dad” for us kids to see at show & tell. Not a toy or doll like the rest of us kids did, but a picture of a fallen MIGHTY MARINE. Michael shared his “Dad” with us that day, A HERO! As young as we were, we felt you, your spirit, goodness, valor and honor. You were our hero then, and you are our hero now and a hero for all eternity. Thank You

THANK YOU
Dear SSGT Donald Cruden,
Thank you for your service as an Infantry Unit Leader. Your birthday is this month, happy birthday. It is so important for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Birthday
Today would have been your 8th birthday. Not a day goes by that I don't think about you. Wishing you were here to give me some fatherly advice and wondering if I am living up to your hopes for me.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear SSGT Donald Joseph Cruden, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter
