I was Ron,s gunner with the M60

We trained in California before going over to Nam on the USS IWO-JIMA. A great Marine & friend. After 2 months on the IWO we went inland for the duration.I was in Phu Bai when i heard of Ron getting killed on an ambush at Khe Sahn. I was devastated. I visited his resting place in 2016 in Hickory. Something i had to do.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear CPL Ronald Lee Crooks, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, Sir

Curt Carter

Honoring a Great Marine

As we all prepare to celebrate this Memorial Day my mind will drift to June 7th. 1967. On that day we lost Ron. I never have or never will forget him. Sempre-Fi
