We Will Remember

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

A Great American

CPT Crockett was one of the TAC officers in my OCS company. He had a great sense of humor and the types of mandatory harrasment he performed were always amusing (e.g., having two candidates dance together, holding their metal food trays or commenting on the shine on ones boots by imitating the "Kiwi" bird..)

I also ran into one of the LTs in his mechanized battalion (2/47th, 9th Div) in the Mekong Delta who told me how he died. His APC hit one of those large 3' cylindrical shaped charges the VC would plant - the APC was blown several yards killing CPT Crockett and some other men - riding on top of the APC.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear Captain Travis Richard Crockett, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter
