Remembering a wonderful neighbor
I was Dennis' neighbor at 336 W. Stadium, in West Lafayette. When I was a little boy I used to go next door to Dennis' house where they let me shoot their pellet rifle in the drive way. I was only 7 or 8 but I never forgot that. I remember him as being a wonderful guy. Years later, I was saddened to hear about Dennis being killed in the war. I thank him for his service to our country. My best wishes to his surviving family members.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear LCPL Dennis Wray Cripe, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

I'll Never Forget
Dennis,
We were classmates at WLHS. Though we weren't close friends I knew you and think of you very often. You're my touchstone to the Viet Nam war. I've visited you at the national memorial in Washington, D.C. numerous times. Thank you for your service to our country. May you rest in peace.

Denny Cripe
I grew up with Denny and his brothers, and played defensive end next to his defensive tackle for a year in high school when we started our 16-game unbeaten streak. We called our own stunts and crosses and had some success. He was a good man who is remembered by a special trophy and award each year at the annual football banquet.
