Honor Him

Eugene the son of Burton F. Cormier and Antoinetta A. Cormier of Milford Massachusetts enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on January 3 1967 in Boston. In Vietnam he was assigned to and served with Company H, 2d Battalion, 9th Marines, 3d MARDIV (Rein) FMF.

During the month of September the Battalion was operating in the vicinity of Con Thien during Operation KINGFISER in northern Quang Tri Province. On September 22 the Marine position in the vicinity of Duc Duc near Route 1009 was hit with a barrage of NVA artillery which inflicted numerous casualties, one of the Marines killed in his defensive by the hostile fire was Pvt Cormier.
