Thank You
Dear Sp4 Phillip Cooney,
Thank you for your service as a Combat Engineer. It is so important for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear SP4 Phillip Bernard Cooney, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

Comrade and Friend
Phillip....I served with you in Vietnam in the same company. We performed well as combat engineers doing mine sweeps, clearing LZ's, blowing up enemy tunnels, and supporting our infantry comrades in the bush. I have thought about you often over the years and finally found the courage to visit you at the 'Wall' in 2008. I have since been back twice to visit and trace your name and spend time with you. On my last visit I had a priest friend with me who did a blessing for you. I have been married for 42 years and have 2 children and 3 grandchildren. These are the things that you sacrificed for your country and our freedom. My family and I will be forever grateful to you and we will never forget you. Rest in peace Phillip and know that you are appreciated for all of the sacrifices you made for us.
