Hero that I never met.

My Dad knew Calvin and took me to the vietnam wall to find his name when I was about 8 or 9 years old. My Dad was also a vietnam Vet. I never saw my Dad cry from sadness accept when he reached up and felt Calvin’s name on the wall. I’ve remembered his name for 40 years and I’m happy he was brought home.

Distinguished Flying Cross Award

Staff Sergeant Calvin Coolidge Cooke, Jr., in addition to the Silver Star Medal Award previously posted, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his heroism and extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight. He served as an Aircraft Loadmaster and was assigned to the 345TH TAC ALFT SQDN, 374TH TAC ALFT WING, 13TH AF.
