Remembering An American Hero
Dear LCPL Joel Leslie Cook, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

Happy Birthday, little brother!
Today would have been your 64th birthday. We think of you often and especially remember you on your special day. So many years ago, we lost you, and always wonder how changed our lives would be if you were still here. You are forever in our hearts, Joey. We are always so proud of you!

A Fine Marine
I was Joe's platoon commander on that terrible day he died. We were returning from the bush to spend Christmas in our compound when the SFD went off, killing Joe and wounding a fellow Marine. No words can express the loss of Joe to our platoon and the Marines Corps. Semper Fi!
