THE WALL OF FACES

This Memorial Weekend Jack and I are thinking of Bob. We have a flag pole on our property dedicated to him and his service to our country.

A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam
And for a brief moment its glory
and beauty belong to our world
But then it flies again
And though we wish it could have stayed...
We feel lucky to have seen it.

I have a picture of Lt Conti in Vietnam a great leader. If a family contacts me I could get it to them.

I was a little boy when I was befriended by Bob and his family. I was 6 or 7 years old. When I would play with Bob’s little brother, Bob would play with us and wrestle with us on the floor. He was so gentle and I could tell he loved little kids. Bob was very charismatic and was talented and a fiercely competitive wrestler. Bob’s sacrifice as well as the sacrifice of his entire family will not be taken for granted nor will it ever be forgotten.

Bob and I became friends at Lafayette College through wrestling. He was our captain his senior year and helped to turn the program around. In addition to being a star on the mat, he was a dedicated and respected leader, and a friend to many. I will always miss him.
