Childhood Friend/Sweetheart
Donald and I met in Junior High School in Grade 9. He was a handsome young man who came to school well dressed and always was in a great mood and a bit of a prankster. Donnie and I dated in high school and I corresponded with him quite a bit when he enlisted in US Army in basic training and in Vietnam. The day I was told that he was killed in action in Vietnam was a devastating day in my life. He was a wonderful young man who sacrificed his life for our freedom. He left a lasting impression of what was important in life. Friends, family and love. Here are two pictures taken shortly before he left us. Remembering him always for his strong spirit and friendship.

Childhood friend
Donnie lived across the street from me in Dorchester Ma. We Donnie and I hung on the same corner, all the girls "Loved Donnie", he was a funny kid and had lots of friends. Everyone was devastated when he was killed. I felt guilty because he asked me about Vietnam and if he should enlist. I told him the Army really trains you and you will be OK. I was wrong about that. He will always be missed.

My Big Brother
Donny was my cousin from my mother's side of the family, but he was always like a big brother to me. I remember those days like they were yesterday. I am 60 now and if Donny had survived I'm have no doubt he would have continued to guide me through life as he did when we were younger. He has always been missed and I know one day, we will walk together and talk again. If you served with Don, contact me, I want to know about his life and mission. Was he a Shark or Dolphin? He was killed in Tra Bong, but that wasn't where he was based. What was life on base like? Who were his friends? At the time, the family was not much on details, the loss was just too great. He was an amazing young man, and they always say, "The Good Die Young". The uploaded image is the young man I remember. The face of the airman, is that of the Nam.
