Best friend of Mike's brother Paddy

Mike was a great guy. I lived at 53-07 Skillman and Mike lived at 53-11, perhaps 100 ft. away. I was in the same class at St Sebastian's with his brother Paddy. Paddy and I were best friends all through grammar school. Mike was a cool older brother and always treated me and PAddy with kindness and respect.I went into the USAF in 1965 and to Vietnam in 1966. I remember the day that I received a letter from my Mother that Mike was KIA. I was still in the USAF. Too many friends from Woodside died in Vietnam doing what we thought should be done. God Bless all of the Connolly's.

Visit your mother

My mom asked me to visit your mom when I returned from Nam in 68. One of the saddest days of my life. I think of you often - Johnny Coppinger

Remembering An American Hero

Dear SGT Michael Dennis Connolly, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, Sir

Curt Carter
