I Remember You Often Tommy

I remember you even though I was just nine when you died. I remember watching you play varisty basketball at West Carrollton High School. All of us young boys wanted to be Tommy Combs, you were so good. I remember when you died. I remember being at my grandparents house and seeing my uncle Tom, your friend and team mate crying. Years later I set in that same gym at West Carrollton High School and held my breath hoping beyond hope that I might win the "Tom Combs" award given to the outstanding male student athlete. Unlike most every student there, I knew you. I didn't win that award but it is still given in your name and I am sure that they speak about you everytime they present it. Tom Combs, the captian of the basketball team, the excellent student, the boy who didn't miss a day of school ever. I remember you and wonder what you would have become. I thank God that you were a believer and now reside with Him. I will see you some day when I join you in His presence.

A Tribute to our Team Captain

Tommy - We lost a great friend and team captain ('65) in 1967. You will always be remembered with fondness especially by your senior teammates: Dan Minix, Jim Trost, Richard Maurice, and Steve Richart.

A good guy too soon gone

I was a bit older than Tommy as we grew up in Moraine (Miami Shores) OH. Tommy had a promising basketball career ahead of him, but first came his service to his country. That promise was cut short by a sniper as Tommy was on patrol in Vietnam. Tommy was a good guy and gone much too soon.
