Charles Anthony Ackley Jr.
Charles was fun loving, his laughter brought smiles to everyone and laughter was always east to evoke. That is until his return from Vietnam. He began to drink heavily and refused to speak about his problems or get help. Charles died whether deliberately or by accident I do not know. He left home the morning of Feb. 1st, 1979. His last words to me were “Mom, I will be home for dinner.” He spent the day partying with a longtime friend. After dropping him off, he proceeded home. About five miles from home, his truck collided with a telephone pole. His injuries were very severe and he was pronounced dead before I arrived at the hospital.
