William Allan Munson
William Allan Munson, "Bill,” was born in Fostoria, Ohio on October 5, 1947 to Harold and Phyllis (Vogel) Munson. He passed on June 5, 2023 at the age of 75. He had three siblings: two brothers and one sister.
At age 17 he enlisted in the US Marines Corps, serving two tours in Viet Nam, receiving two Purple Hearts, along with numerous other awards. He served from 1965-1969 rising to the rank of Sergeant.
William had three daughters, and eight grandchildren whom he dearly loved. He was married to his wife, Karen for 39 ½ years.
During his lifetime, he served on the Veterans Service Commission of Seneca County, Ohio and made it his mission to help other Veterans. In addition, Bill served in the US Postal Service, retiring as a Post Master. He was a proud member of The Military Order of Purple Heart, VVA, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, The Eagles, The Moose, Knights of Columbus.
Bill suffered from many health disorders due to Agent Orange. Primarily heart disease from which he battled for over 25 years. PTSD, COPD, lung cancer, and diabetes.
Bill was an extremely outgoing and personable man, never meeting a stranger. His humor was infectious. Bill was a man of many words, never afraid to speak his mind, always willing to lend a hand. He was a patriotic man, who loved his country and fellow man.
