Biography

Anthony Abrams was born January 18, 1946 in Parker, Arizona. He was the third of 8 children, born to Margree Henry and Otis Lee Hogland. He died January 18, 2023 in Yucaipa, California at the age of 77.

Anthony grew up in Northern California, sadly his mom died when he was 13 years old. He joined the Marines when he was 17 years old and soon after, the Vietnam War began and Anthony served for four years (1963- 1967). Anthony was in one of the first platoons to enter Vietnam and rose to the ranks of corporal during his four years of service.

After his military service, Anthony was able to attain a Masters Degree in English and a Minor in Behavioral Science.

It was love at first sight for Anthony when he met Darla in 1973 and their whirlwind romance led to a marriage of 50 years and 4 children, Jacinda, Laura, James, and Corey and 8 grandchildren, Trianna, Imogen, Arwen, Elias, Alayla, Max, Ember and Madelaine.

Anthony became a Christian in 1978 and his strong faith helped him through many of the difficulties of life including a lifelong battle with PTSD and later, a cancer diagnosis most likely related to his military service in Vietnam. Anthony spent time in the Word each day and prayed for each of his kids and grandkids. Anthony was a hard worker and achieved the highest level in his career as a Senior Operator, retiring after 40 years.

Anthony went through various health issues in the last few years and fought hard to stay here with us as long as possible. Through it all he continued to be the devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather to his family that he always had been.
