Dale Allen Schroth, 69, of Hiawatha passed 2:30am January 8th at home, surrounded by his loving family following a brief battle with leukemia. He is survived by his wife Lynn of 42 years and five children; Terri L. (Carlos) Luciano of Harrisburg, PA, Jeremiah J. (Terri) Schroth of Ely, IA, Matthew M. (Christine) Schroth of Las Vegas, NV, Kira K. (Tanner) Miner of Rowley, IA, Melissa M. (Mark) White of Cedar Rapids, IA; brother John A. of Middleton, PA, two sisters Virginia L. (Terry) Danser and Ella L. (Barry) Lewellen both of Harrisburg, PA; grandchildren Melinda, Jordan, John (Daphne), Jasper, Ethan, Kenzi, Bowen, Tali, Flynn, and two great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; both parents and his sister, Lillian "Sis" Willow. Dale was born May 26, 1951 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to Leroy A. Schroth and Ella M. Miller. After graduating from Central Dauphin East High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he proudly served as a Cacnie Security Officer during the Vietnam War. He also served as a Missle Guard at the Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana and as a Computer Operator at Offutt Airforce Base in Omaha, NE. After completing his service in 1974, he was united in marriage to Lynn M. Klein on May 19, 1979 in Omaha, NE. He attended Iowa Western Community College where he received two Associates Degrees in business and computer engineering. They later made their home in Hiawatha, IA where they raised their children. He was an active church member, leader of the Christian Service Brigade, and scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts. He served on the Hiawatha City Council and was a member of the Hiawatha American Legion. After many years with Yellow Book, he retired as a Database Administrator. He enjoyed working on his HO train display, collecting, and watching eagles, playing cribbage and scrabble, and woodworking (making toys for his grandchildren and special items for Lynn). He also enjoyed camping, fishing, hiking, cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers, and being Santa for the children at the American Legion. Faith and Family were everything to Dale; he loved being a Husband, Father, Grandfather (Papa) and going on road trips with his wife and beloved dog, Kodiak.
