Biography

Alan Jahnke was born on July 25th, 1948 in Mason City, Iowa. He graduated from High School in 1966. Alan joined the U.S. Army in 1969 and did 1 year in Vietnam and 3 years 7 months serving as an Airframe Repairman. On June 23, 1972 he married Dorothy Tarrence and they went on to have 3 boys Paul, Joe, and Jordan. They have 6 grandchildren. After leaving the U.S. Army. He worked in the town elevator, and factories as a welder, and later in life worked for the City of Burt, Iowa. Alan loved collecting guns, making hunting knives, going hunting, and teaching his boy's the love of the outdoors. He loved his Mountain Dew in the morning and a cold beer after work. He always liked tinkering out in the garage on various items from lawnmower, motorcycle, 3 wheeler, snowmobile, or his car. He was always able to fix anything that needed to be fixed. He had a wonderful view of life. He never really got excited about things. Alan was known for his slow driving when someone came upon him people knew who it was. He was always willing to help others out and give his shirt off his back to help someone. If it was splitting wood with his log splitter, helping relatives, mowing lawns for the elderly He passed away on August 3, 2000 while on his job as a City Maintenance worker. Alan lived life to the fullest until the end and will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
